Leopard (Panthera pardus) in Savuti, Chobe National Park, Botswana. Leopards live in Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia, though before they also occupied parts of Europe and the Far East. The leopard, one of the Big Five, is characterized by its well-camouflaged fur patterns and ability to adapt to diverse habitats. It is a vulnerable species whose populations are decreasing due to loss of habitat and poaching for the illegal trade of pelts and traditional medicine.
